On Friday, May 10, we celebrated our inaugural UW Aviation Gala in the Engineering 7 building at the university. We had an incredible turnout, and thanks to the help of all of our organizers and student volunteers the event ran without a hitch. We would like to offer a huge congratulations to all of our award winners, and thank everyone that made it out.
In particular, we would like to acknowledge all of our sponsors - whose financial support made the event possible. From the industry: Air Canada, WestJet, Jazz Aviation, Diamond Aircraft, Singapore Airlines and the WSP group all made significant contributions. We would also like to thank all of their representatives for speaking on our industry panel and offering some insight into the field. We would also like to thank our university sponsors, the Faculty of Science and Environment, the Science Society, Environment Students' Society and the Federation of Students.
We would also like to thank our speakers on the panel, along with Dr. Feridun Hamdullahpur, Dr. Marlee Spafford, Hon. Marc Garneau and First Officer Jessalyn Teed for their advice and insight. Finally, we would like to thank Dr. Suzanne Kearns and Dr. Ian McKenzie for all of their help in the planning and execution of the gala.
Thank you to everyone who could make it out! We're hoping for an even bigger gala next year, so stay tuned.
